Happy Friday, Beautiful Blossoms! And I finally found out why my phone never reminds me to do an entry every Friday – I never set a reminder on my phone. I’m hoping that’ll be my “doi!” moment of the day.

It doesn’t help that I haven’t been active with my makeup usage as of late thanks to my recurring bouts of depression. If I’m getting repetitive with it, I’m sorry – I honestly don’t know how else to describe part of what I struggle with in and out of beauty blogging. But I don’t mean to be a downer every time I post an entry here – I do want to be able to blog in a happy mood too.

In fact, I struggled to find a product to present today – not only do I have a lifetime-supply equivalent stash of beauty products that I’ve bought in almost a year, I’ve featured nearly every product that I regularly use. Some are cult favorites (Naked 3, ABH Contour, Beauty Blender, UD De-Slick Setting Spray) that have been blogged about endlessly, so I don’t feel that it’s needed for me to write a CE post about them.

And then there’s Tony Moly.

Korean beauty’s strong arm is more skincare than cosmetic products – I guess that explains why Tony Moly’s flagship store on East 33rd Street in Midtown Manhattan has more shelves dedicated to skincare products than Korean cosmetic products. Born and raised in Asia, I should know this too damn well, but the Asian Beauty scene has a tendency to emulate Western beauty so I wasn’t too sure if the beauty culture I grew up with was still there (ie milky white skin and subtle makeup compared to “heavy” – think lots and lots of products – styled makeup).

My cousin Kaithlyn (I swear, she’s the honorary other half of BBA) raved about Tony Moly to me so much that I decided to agree when she proposed that we hit the store so she can snag more of their face masks (Sephora sells them for $7 for a 2 pack or $3.75 a piece while TM Store sells them at $2 per mask). I wasn’t too interested at first because Asian products don’t work too well with my skin despite being… well, Asian. I found that American-sold products had more efficacy to my skin than Asian ones (believe me, I grew up on the stuff).

But K-beauty is all the rage now, so it was time to give the home continent another try.

Tony Moly is a cultural favorite for their cutesy packaging, which flew over my head as I started perusing for something that would make a believer out of me for Asian beauty products again. I saw this little bugger being sold for $1.50 a piece (don’t quote me):

It’s basically Tony Moly’s answer to the blackhead removal strips. Even though it says Egg Pore.

I tried the Biore blackhead removing strips before but it wouldn’t stick to my nose because my nose has a habit of transforming into an oil slick the moment something sticky is set on it. What convinced me to try the TM Egg Pore Nose Pack was the fact that I needed to use water to apply it. It’s been eternity since I last used a pore strip (I just Googled to see if the Biore needed water to stick to the nose as well and it does) – I guess there’s going to be more than one “doi!” moment today.

I posted an Instagram pic of me with the pore strip on a whim (but this was waaaaay after the first time I bought one) if you wanna see how it looks like, since I can’t use one at the moment: my nose has undergone peeling due to me having the sniffles and blowing my nose with tissues. The last thing I wanna do is put an adhesive on raw skin.

I followed the instructions to a T and after pulling off the strip, I was amazed at how many whiteheads it yanked off my nose. The last time I used a pore strip, it couldn’t pull off a quarter of what the Tony Moly Egg Pore Nose strip did. And it saved me the pain of having to pull some of them out with tweezers – in fact, the Egg Pore Nose strip yanked off more than I could see in a magnified mirror.

Call me a prodigal daughter if you will – I finally found an Asian beauty product that called me back home. And impulsively buying the Tony Moly Egg Pore Nose strip led me to hoarding them when possible (they aren’t cheap, either! I think a box of 9 strips runs for $10.50? I’ll do an update on this for Currently Obsessed Round-Up because I’m planning to get more).

I made a convert out of my sister too – she asks me for them and uses them twice a day because she was amazed at how many whiteheads (and possibly blackheads) it removed from her nose.
