Well, Hello There :D

Goodness me, it never occured that I am about to close in on one year since I last posted to this blog. And so much has happened with the beauty scene that the Mr. Krabs meme wouldn’t be much of a strech in describing how I’d look and feel in trying to keep up with it all:

My current Business class has pushed prompted me to dive right back into the beauty community for research purposes and, I’ll be honest – looking at things from a business perspective actually adds some much needed nuance for me to make sense of half of the drama drama drama shenanigans that have come to be normalized. And by shenanigans,I mean the emphasis on packaging, the shrinkflation, the marketing, etc.

Right now, I am monitoring the Benefit v. e.l.f. legal brawl, because the outcome of the case would certainly set a precedent in addressing the concept of “dupes.”  The last time that it was addressed in the court was when Tatcha sued Too Faced for a similar issue, in which Too Faced almost blatantly carbon copied Tatcha’s lipstick case as part of their Peach collection. Ultimatley, Tatcha chose to get the case dismissed.

It will be interesting to see the outcome of the Benefit v. e.l.f. case, as the latter is outright stating that they are fully providing a cheaper alternative to Benefit’s Roller Lash right down to the name, whereas Too Faced only went as far as mimicking Tatcha’s package.
