FoD: The MLM Adventures (Part 2)

From Part 1:

I’m all for the “work grind” mantra – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson lives and breathes it and so does Daymond John, “The Peoples Shark.” Sure, I may not seemingly practice that because I update the blog once in a while (switching jobs is not as easy as it looks – a lesson I’ll take to heart, while moving (as in I’m FINALLY bringing some belongings over to the new place) and dealing with transportation for the new job), but I really am trying – right now, my main concern is keeping my head above the water.

You can ask anybody who did an MLM adventure – one way or another, they will tell you that they felt relegated to doing the above, except that they had someone who consistently raised the water level to the point where they’d sink into financial ruin.

The MLM I signed up with, Market America, I was fortunate enough to have my parents as my upline and even then, they were thankfully not aggressive about it. Granted, they’ve been in a few themselves before where I wasn’t a downline to them, but there were other MLMs I got indirectly involved in where I didn’t have that pleasantry.

Frank on Depression: The MLM Adventures (Part 1)

Hey, Beautiful Blossoms!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of reading an interesting (and occasionally funny) blog called “The Not Quite Fairy-Tales of Elle Beau,” courtesy of a makeup Discord group I participate in. It was mentioned in the group at a good time for me because I needed something to calm me down but never really did after a hectic weekend involving moving, a car, sticker shock, and ego.

Admittedly, the blog entries detailing Elle’s experience with Younique was surprisingly interesting – I’m no stranger to MLM (yes, I used to do it too and no, I wasn’t keen on the whole aggresive sales tactics that are fondly used by companies), yet I kept on reading Elle’s entries about how she went through the roller coaster of being a Younique salesperson until the ride finally came to a stop when, obviously, she quit the company.

BBA Spotlight: BH Cosmetics Quick Change – Brush Cleaner

a.k.a. why you shouldn’t even spend $20 on the original Vera Mona or try to be cheap with a DIY version with an H&M Hair Donut and a tin can.

Today’s blog post sheds light on what has essentially become a very handy staple in my personal eyeshadow application: the BH Cosmetics Quick Change – Brush Cleaner. It’s self-explanatory: you can swipe your brush against the sponge inside to clean your eyeshadow brush when going from one color to another. No rinsing with soap and water or liquid cleanser required.

Currently Obsessed: e.l.f. and Laura Mercier (Part 2)

It wasn’t long before I ended up at my favorite (wouldn’t say local, since there are e.l.f. stores that are much closer to me than the one I like) e.l.f. store – my Planet Fitness was literally less than a 5 minute drive from it. Keeping the e.l.f. lipstick in mind, I made sure to snag it with the new blending and swirly brushes from the Beautifully Bare line that, surprisingly, were available in-store too.

From previous experience, the store usually gets products that get dropped on e.l.f.’s online store much later, so to see the blending and swirly brushes on the store shelves right after they dropped online was a bit of a surprise, but one that I wasn’t gonna protest because I didn’t have to worry about shipping.

Currently Obsessed: e.l.f. and Laura Mercier (Part 1)

And one that I’m now certain that I will chuck out: NYX Lip Lingerie (because they made a Lingerie line for lids and I made the mistake of using it as a liquid lip).

Welp, Beautiful Blossoms, I did say in an earlier post today that I was going to blog after work! Sure, it took me a bit of time to get settled (I left one of my bags at the clinic so I had to go and get it), but now everything is well again in my makeup space.

I’m kinda glad to bring back the Currently Obsessed series because it’s been some time since I became obsessed with what I use in my makeup rotation and in this case, I found myself doing a Pong between the e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Satin Lipstick in A Touch of Blush and the Laura Mercier DS Velour Lovers Lip Color in Devotion.

And pretty much disliking the NYX Lip Lingerie in Teddy, which I wore today and I can honestly say that it is NOT flattering on me.

A Quick Life Update

Hi Beautiful Blossoms! I have a bit of downtime with my extra work shift so I figured I’d check in to see what was the last thing I wrote here. And it was a pretty dark entry, especially with what happened when it was written.

Today’s post has a bit more cheer: I managed to pass my ExCPT exam, which means I can officially say that I am a CERTIFIED PHARMACY TECHNICIAN. I miraculously survived the exam (I can’t begin to describe how severely uninformed I was as to what was going to be on the exam) and I applied for a Pharmacy Technician position in Walgreens. Now, from my previous experience with CVS, I was expecting to not hear from them for some time after I sent my initial application.

Next thing I know, I get a call from one that I applied to and they want me to come in for an interview this Wednesday. I’m still in a somewhat state of disbelief that the response time was so quick. But here’s to seeing what will happen.

As far as makeup updates go, I’m going to write an entry regarding 2 lip products that have become my go-to these past few days: e.l.f’s Beautifully Bare Lipstick in A Touch of Blush and Laura Mercier DS in Devotion. One was a complete chance while the other got eyed strictly by color and turned out to be a damn good bet. Pics will be hosted on the Insta account for space and bandwidth purposes.

I’m looking forward to blogging post work tonight!
