A Quick Life Update

Hi Beautiful Blossoms! I have a bit of downtime with my extra work shift so I figured I’d check in to see what was the last thing I wrote here. And it was a pretty dark entry, especially with what happened when it was written.

Today’s post has a bit more cheer: I managed to pass my ExCPT exam, which means I can officially say that I am a CERTIFIED PHARMACY TECHNICIAN. I miraculously survived the exam (I can’t begin to describe how severely uninformed I was as to what was going to be on the exam) and I applied for a Pharmacy Technician position in Walgreens. Now, from my previous experience with CVS, I was expecting to not hear from them for some time after I sent my initial application.

Next thing I know, I get a call from one that I applied to and they want me to come in for an interview this Wednesday. I’m still in a somewhat state of disbelief that the response time was so quick. But here’s to seeing what will happen.

As far as makeup updates go, I’m going to write an entry regarding 2 lip products that have become my go-to these past few days: e.l.f’s Beautifully Bare Lipstick in A Touch of Blush and Laura Mercier DS in Devotion. One was a complete chance while the other got eyed strictly by color and turned out to be a damn good bet. Pics will be hosted on the Insta account for space and bandwidth purposes.

I’m looking forward to blogging post work tonight!

The BBA Makeup Workhorses

Hey, Beautiful Blossoms!

I’m glad to be able to sneak in a blog entry today – between working my regular and overtime hours, shuffling between the old apartment and the new house, and trying to get my licensing exam in order, it’s nice to be able to talk about something that’s completely unrelated to all that: makeup.

I hate to admit it, but I realize that that there is a bit of a monotony in my life, but what surprises me is that it’s coming from the last place I expect it: my makeup. I may get picky with the eyeshadows I use, but when it comes to the rest of my face, I tend to use nearly the same product every time and I hadn’t really taken notice until today, when my mind has too much time to muddle over things.

But then again, when you have something that you consistently rely on, you don’t really give it much thought until it’s time for it to go to greener pastures. yep, we just went a tad bit dark with this one

A Breather Entry

Hey Beautiful Blossoms!

After being on hiatus for over a month, I finally got the chance to come back and just do a quick entry – I hadn’t realized that the last entry that I wrote was on March 7, but that’s what happens when moving plans fall apart get delayed, family members have a health crisis, death in the family, and heavier workload all come tearing after your time.

I’ve been a little more active on Insta due to the fact that I’m hosting the first ever Blossom Beautiful Aesthetics Giveaway, with the theme being Beauty Twins. If you guys are interested, the giveaway is open until May 25 and the rules are available on the first BBA Giveaway Insta post. There are more posts that follow that clarify the rules a bit (though to my disappointment, some people are at risk of disqualification because they are not following the rules 😦 and I want everyone to get a fair shot at winning… ).

Active on Insta. Blogging… Not So Much.

Intagramming is hella easy. You just gather the stuff you like, snap a pic with a phone or tablet or an iPod, and voila: easy peasy lemon squeasy result.

My Insta feed has featured a shit ton of haul pics. It’s no secret that I’m a makeup addict (and I don’t say that with pride, either… but it’s kinda hard not to when buying makeup makes you happy). Am I gonna review ALL the stuff I’ve been picturing on the BBA Insta?

That’s actually a good question. Not to brag or anything, but I’ve been fortunate enough to love a good chunk of the stuff I’ve bought. Really. The ones that do come to mind that failed are the Tony Moly Intense Care LS CC Cream (I snapped a pic of myself wearing it and sent it to my cousin. She agreed with my sentiment that it looked horrible on me) and the UD Vice 4. I swear, I don’t have a raging boner for the UD Vice 4 – I’m really trying to be more open minded to it in the sense that it may not be the pigment-in-your-face kinda palette. I’ve made this peace with my AudaCITY and in a way, I’m kinda glad that it was done the way it was because it lets me wear makeup in a professional setting where it would have been frowned upon if I went for the Instagram in-your-face look.

So I Bought Me an Artis Brush Set.

Like I mentioned in the BBA Insta, some people got bae. I got me. And for Valentine’s Day, I decided to treat myself to a 5-piece Artis brush set because I wanted to see what the hype was all about.

Price aside, the biggest appeal of any Artis brush is the soft bristle. This thing is supposed to be straight-from-heaven soft. My set arrived today and I popped one out to finally see what the fuss is all about.

I’m not too impressed. I was expecting the brush softness to be something to write home about. Nope. Some of my other cheaper brushes (and by cheaper, they all count as cheap compared to how much one of the brushes in the set would have cost) have softer bristles than the Artis. So what gives?

Then, an “aha!” moment: the bristles are densely packed – they are bunched up together so tightly that you can hardly see any space between each bristle hair. So maybe that’s why it wasn’t as soft as I was expecting it to be?

Or maybe the other lines from Artis have that straight-from-heaven brush softness that I’m expecting?

IMATS NYC 2017

What’s up, Beautiful Blossoms? I hope you’re all alive and reasonably well in spite of all the craziness that’s happening all over the planet. But I’m not gonna make this into a political rant (because there’s just an oversaturation oozing from pretty much every major media outlet in existence) because even I’m tired of it. And I’ve always been keen on keeping BBA strictly about makeup (and the occasional skincare that works across the board regardless of skin type).

Thankfully, I was able to come home with some energy to spare from work to write about my excitement for this year’s IMATS. Februrary already starts tomorrow and the event itself is held in April and I had a reasonably good time last year when I went for the first time ever. The only reason I found out about IMATS was because I was desperate to find a convention for makeup. We have Comic-Con, Winter-Con, Pax East (okay, not held in NYC but still), SXSW (South by Southwest), DragCon (West Coast only), but none that really caters to a makeup enthusiast.

Me and Instagram Cateyes.

Or, to be fair, it’s more drag makeup cateyes than Instagram cateyes. Anyway, I finally convinced myself to practice cateye makeup after telling myself (and buying a couple of e.l.f. eyeliners for practice) that I need to do it to get better with the cateye. Because I have shitty hand-eye coordination and, if you noticed on the BBA Instagram face, my eyeshape is… asymmetrical. Basically, they’re not twins.

When I went to Sephora for my birthday two years ago, I asked the Sales Rep to do a cateye on me because I wanted to know how to do it. While she did a demo, she remarked that my eyelids were shaped differently – she was able to do a cateye seamlessly on my right eye but my left eye proved to be quite troublesome. My eyes are hooded but the skin layer on my left is more prominent than on my right – and I think it’s partly due to that stye I had on that one way back when (it runs in my dad’s side of the family).

If you follow BBA on YouTube, you’d be wondering why I haven’t taken the time to film a quick video and upload it. Surely, I have the time to practice an eyeliner and post about it here, so why can’t I film and upload too?
