Me and Instagram Cateyes.

Or, to be fair, it’s more drag makeup cateyes than Instagram cateyes. Anyway, I finally convinced myself to practice cateye makeup after telling myself (and buying a couple of e.l.f. eyeliners for practice) that I need to do it to get better with the cateye. Because I have shitty hand-eye coordination and, if you noticed on the BBA Instagram face, my eyeshape is… asymmetrical. Basically, they’re not twins.

When I went to Sephora for my birthday two years ago, I asked the Sales Rep to do a cateye on me because I wanted to know how to do it. While she did a demo, she remarked that my eyelids were shaped differently – she was able to do a cateye seamlessly on my right eye but my left eye proved to be quite troublesome. My eyes are hooded but the skin layer on my left is more prominent than on my right – and I think it’s partly due to that stye I had on that one way back when (it runs in my dad’s side of the family).

If you follow BBA on YouTube,ย you’d be wondering why I haven’t taken the time to film a quick video and upload it. Surely, I have the time to practice an eyeliner and post about it here, so why can’t I film and upload too?

Day 4: I Quit This Challenge.

Yep. I am officially throwing in the towel on my self-imposed challenge. The more I tried to get myself to be enthusiastic about cracking open my Vice 4 palette, the more frustrated I became with using it. And no brush I owned in my arsenal could transfer the damn eyeshadow from pan to palette the way I felt like it should have.

Then there’s the fact that I work 5 bloody days a week in a cubicle. At most, I’d be wearing my Vice 4 colors for a couple of hours before I have to take them off eventually for bed. I didn’t see the point of struggling with meh eyeshadow quality for a 2 hour wear (and don’t even get me started on the attempt of taking pictures to show my handiwork).

Makeup By Seasons

Or why Filipino Beauty Bloggers are rare.

Do you Beautiful Blossoms adjust your makeup to the change in season? This is a concept I’ve never  understood, as I view makeup as a form of self-expression regardless of the weather. Lately I’ve been seeing berry lip colors in accordance with Fall.

I kinda figured I’d see more of the orange spectrum. But having lived in a country where the only seasons were fry-and-bake-in-the-sun or get-soaked-to-the-bone rain for a good chunk of my life, I doubt I will ever understand the need to adjust one’s makeup to the season. And that’s okay.

As for the other half of the title, it’s true. There aren’t any mainstream Filipino beauty bloggers out there (at least, as mainstream as the ones on YouTube). PatrickStarrrrr can be counted, but his style is more suited for drag performance. What about the everyday girl or woman?

ItsJudysLife can be counted as well – she is Filipino too and she’s fairly mainstream. But holy cow, the criticisms on her…

That and in the Philippines, makeup is a luxury only celebrities and high-income people who live in the higher altitudes can afford. You go anywhere below Baguio or the mountain areas, your makeup won’t last past 12. It’s that hot there. It’d be kinda nice to have a rep in the beauty community though.

TRE: Beauty Tube Drama / Officially Back!

Hey Beautiful Blossoms! Surprise surprise, I’m posting today! And yes, I know I have a history of suddenly dropping off the face of the earth, but this time around it was due to three things:

1. Unplanned trip to Maryland with the Pops.

2. Wedding anniversary in Atlantic City.

3. Moving.

4. Flying to babysit my 5 year old cousin in Las Vegas.

Yep, they all happened in that order. During the Maryland and Atlantic City trips, I brought my recording gear along with my new lighting equipment (which I have yet to figure out how to set up because I have a new work space but it is still relatively small), but there was just no time to set up and record: Maryland had me busy interacting with cousins I hadn’t seen in a year and Atlantic City had me interacting with friends I hadn’t seen in at least 2 years.

Recording in Las Vegas was out of the question: my aunt makes it a point to lecture me when I’m on my phone and not watching my cousin. I’ll let you figure out how she does it, because I went there with my sister to babysit the little tyke when the mother is at work.

Ramblings aside, being away from blogging actually did give me a silver lining: giving me material for this week’s TRE. And holy shit, the world must have tilted on its axis or something because the Beauty Tube scene got eaten up by TMZ and got regurgitated.

Where do we start?

2 Videos Today!

After a really long night of trying to configure my recording setup and waiting for YouTube to FINALLY upload my damn footage, the first of 2 BBA Reviews is up for viewing!

You’ll see what I mean when you watch the vid. I do apologize that it’s a long one (I’m working on being less nervous with the webcam) but I wanted to cover all my bases.

Hope you Beautiful Blossoms enjoy!
