And now, the second of today’s Double Post Entry. Not only that, it’s a twist on the series: what I’m NOT Currently Obsessed with. Last entry, I was raving about Clinique’s cult favorite skincare line. But one of their latest additions was a big let-down: the Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream.
This product “provides a rush of hydration and instant brightening so you look and feel refreshed, wide awake, and ready for anything in as little as three seconds” (according to Sephora’s website). That’s a pretty ballsy claim to make, since time is a highly desired variable when it comes to skincare.
But Clinique had yet to let me down, so I was interested in the Pep Start cream – I needed something to make me look wide awake instead of just-rolled-out-of-bed. However, a quick run through of the product review on Sephora’s website revealed disappointment from customers who had purchased the store exclusive product, saying that it didn’t work. Given its price tag of $26.50, I was a little concerned and debated whether to buy the product or not. Not even the flexible return policy could convince me to pay $5.50 just to return it to my local Sephora.
Thankfully, sample sizes were available for the picking, which I took advantage of. I snapped up 3 while ordering some products online and waited for them to arrive. And it wasn’t long before I had to put one of them to the test. Ignoring the warnings that the product did not work as advertised, I tore open the sample sachet and applied the eye cream liberally to my under eye circles.
Three seconds passed. I didn’t look any more wide awake than when I crawled out of bed like a snail. Perhaps it needed more time to go through my scaly skin?
More time passed. Nope. Maybe I got a dud? So I tried another sachet at another time. Nope. Still no improvement.
And so, I found the first item by Clinique that I was NOT obsessed over. I wanted it to work as advertised but the beauty life doesn’t run by that rule. The only bright side to it was that I saved myself $26.50 and the hassle of having to make a return trip for a product that claimed to make me look fresh in 3 seconds tops.
I thought I’d let you guys know ahead since it’s been confirmed: I am moving this week, so there’s a good chance I might not be able to post an entry for Friday, even if I start a draft for a Currently Obsessed entry. I’d have to go through my favorites stash and figure out what I’m going to write about, photograph it, and post about it.
Tomorrow, I’m already being asked to start packing things for the moving process to begin, so there’s a good chance I won’t be having any wifi to use as well. I hope the moving will only take a week, but being that I’m going to be the only source of help with the moving (because my sister is leaving town – _ -), this is going to suck. Hard.
